Atlanta's Scott's Antiques Market dealer profiles: Kemp Hickey and Liza's "Birds & Bobos"

While strolling through Scott's North building, be sure to visit Kemp Hickey's one-stop decorator's dreamland.

The very best of totally cool architectural lamps in all styles, colors, textures and sizes are offered here.
He uses unique vintage materials such as wood turnings, iron antiques, farm items, salvaged and found objects.

One of the great features of these stellar lamps is that, unlike most competitors, great care has been taken to hide the cord in the body of the lamp to provide the very best in esthetically pleasing distinction.

Kemp also offers the latest in trendy furniture, unique accents, and high-quality, beautifully patterned accent pillows.

His fabulous multi-layered wood finishes are truly perfection.

At Liza's "Birds and Bobos" you will find the most unique home decor items and vintage treasure.
("Bobo" is an endearing nickname for grandmother--check out her website for the sweet story behind this interesting name)

Liza searches far and wide to find very unusual and one-of-a-kind offerings.

Furniture, art, antiques, gifts and home decor---she has it all---and you won't have seen it anywhere else!

Where Friends Create -- HUNTERS CROSSINGS -- studio and home tour

Nestled in the quaint waterfront town of Palmetto, Florida.....
....is the historic home and totally cool studio of my long-time friend
 Sharon Kay Stouffer Derflinger.

She is the creative force behind  HUNTERS CROSSINGS ART.
Magnificent antique doors welcome....

...and inspiration surrounds you upon entering the rustic studio.

(I could play with this rusty treasure all day)
Outside is equally inspiring as you wander in the garden among Sharon's concrete and gourd creations.

This massive dried sunflower atop large acorn gourd is A-MAZ-ING!
Built in 1911, the beautifully restored house is on the historic home register and just a few blocks from the water. It was the home of the only florist in the area in the old days.
Richly textured walls and vintage architectural accents create the perfect touch of interior drama.
Up-lighting creates sillouette-type shadows from every angle.

Of course Sharon's MAGNIFICENT signature art crosses take center stage.

She is also a sculptor and painter of primitive art.
 So much talent!

This fabulous collecton of face jugs also reside here.

Sharon shows and sells her creations and vintage findings at Renninger's in Mt. Dora, FL
 every 3rd weekend.

Her art work is also available at WWW.ETSY.COM/SHOP/HUNTERSCROSSINGS

Favorite find at County Living Fair -- film box re-purpose

It was love at first sight when I spied these old library film boxes.
This is what they looked like before a few adjustments.

I didn't want to change them too much since they already had great patina and a mixture of materials.

Ideal for displaying art

or favorite photos.

I had to remove the glued on label bits and the back brads (to adjust straps) and add hanging wires.

These vintage boxes have lots of other possibilities.....they'd be cool with quotes or monograms, and would be interesting with added bits of vintage paper or collage materials for embellishment.

Less is more for my taste, so I'll just leave them plain.

Country Living Fair 2013 -- Stone Mountain, GA

These are random early morning photos of just the booths around my loop of the fair--there was so much more!
