I have no idea how my blog got picked, and, just like when Google picked me for "Blogs of Note" earlier this year, I didn't realize it until friends told me! (I wondered why suddenly I was getting 500 visits a day from all over the world!) Anyway, I'm a grateful blogger......

Hey again...the burlap is from the garden section at Menards/Lowes...I stole it from my kitchen curtains to make this project...ha...but it is sewn on.
First I wrapped the frame wires with coffee stained twill tape, only wrapping the top and bottom and two of the side wires, just so I'd have something to sew it on, then I just cut off the bulk of the fabric leaving it rough cut.
Maybe I should do a tutorial on the blog how to sew shades. I'm going to do the same process with any old fabrics and not put on the trimmings, just leaving them frayed at the edges.
~It's all about the thrill of the hunt and cruisin' backroads searching for rusty gold. Rummaging for cool pieces of antiquity is only part of the adventure. Next comes the challenge of re-purposing into new creations with updated functionality. Favorite finds are architectural iron, wood salvage, industrial, lighting fixtures, automobilia, farm salvage, and old hardware. But the real story, which always transcends the pickin', is about the interesting people and the unique places discovered along the way!~
