Fun for displaying favorite little junk-tiques |
or photos |
and even jewelry! (I love that funk-tionality!!) |
The show was absolutely packed with all the best in antique/garden/art/chippy and cool treasures! |
Lots of creativity in tent design.... |
....and everyone goes all out in their displays. |
It was unusually hot though, especially if you weren't under a shade tree. I don't remember it ever being that hot in April but the show is also held in the fall which should be cooler! |
Check out "ONE SHABBY OLD HOUSE" blog to see Becky's fabulous photos of the Fancy Flea show. |
I got to see another spectacular Sarasota sunset and watch porpoises playing offshore which always makes the trip complete. |
So glad to be heading to Florida again---these are just a few of the things (wire sculpture, wood and metal assemblage) that I'll be bringing to the show April 25th and 26th at the Strawberry Festival Fairgrounds in Plant City (see HERE for details and HERE for Facebook page)---the show is sold out as approx 300 vendors will be attending---my booth is #162. |
Using a decorative metal lamp base, funnel, lamp center rod, round wire rack, piece of chicken wire and small glass bottles-- |
Easter Blessings to you!! |
Here is the finished project---I love the muted orange and rusty patina---and the overall industrial look. |
These old truck/auto/bus (?) light bezels just shouted 'mirror'! |
Some of the seemingly easiest projects can turn into lengthy, small detail challenges....but luckily not this one! |
Ramping up for my first show of the year ~ "The Fancy Flea" vintage home and garden market which is coming up the last weekend in April! |
Since I've been coming across so many vintage roller skates lately, I was delighted to find how well they work as an assemblage base. |
The possibilities for old wood molding pieces are endless, and they highlight bits of rusty metal salvage and hardware perfectly. |
Oh so F-U-N-K-Y !!! These are great for hanging long necklaces and other stuff. |
I LoVe this chippy white vintage ceiling light which offers the perfect stand for multiple display ideas--it would be great with a glass cloche but I couldn't resist adding a wire cage and nest. |
Located in NE Georgia, as you head up I-85 where St Rd 53 intersects, you'll find a day's worth of great antiquing in the twin towns of Braselton/Hoschton (also home to the semi-annual "Braselton Antique Festival" April/Oct). |
Tim Cash, long-time dealer pal from Flowery Branch Antiques Market has just opened a totally cool *NEW* shop.... |
......filled with everything needed to decorate in the latest cutting edge styles..... |
.....including large architectural pieces, folk art, cool lighting, primitives, antique furniture, industrial--and a multitude of fabulously unique finds! |
Tim brings in new things daily and his range of vintage treasures can accommodate any taste or decorating style. |
So much coolness packed into every square inch! |
I LOVE this industrial coffee table. |
Several artists who are also displaying in Tim's shop include: water colorist Linda Griffiths..... |
.....and Jane Taylor (metal artist and painter of these cool vintage stretcher boards). |
Next door to Tim is another fellow dealer Lourdes Green (also from Flowery Branch Antiques Market) who's shop is filled with everything from iron and wood salvage.... |
....to fabulous vintage architectural finds.... |
....and everything in-between. I never leave her shop without buying something to use for my latest projects. |

~It's all about the thrill of the hunt and cruisin' backroads searching for rusty gold. Rummaging for cool pieces of antiquity is only part of the adventure. Next comes the challenge of re-purposing into new creations with updated functionality. Favorite finds are architectural iron, wood salvage, industrial, lighting fixtures, automobilia, farm salvage, and old hardware. But the real story, which always transcends the pickin', is about the interesting people and the unique places discovered along the way!~
